God Waits Til It Stinks
Lately, I have been at a place where I need God to move on my behalf IMMEDIATELY. Like right now. Can’t wait! Gotta hurry! & For a minute, I was like “Lord, you just ain’t acting right.” Overall, I’m just looking to be elevated but I felt like I’ve been held in this same position in life for a minute. All the time, I felt God wasn’t moving because things weren’t going as expected. Obviously, he had been all along. As I was trying to figure out what my next post would be about I flipped through my Bible Study journal and came across notes from February 2016.The message came from the book of John, Chapter 11 verses 1-39. This is the familiar story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the DEAD. The message was entitled “God Waits ‘til It Stinks,” based off verse 39. At this point in the story, Mary and Martha, had taken Jesus to where Lazarus was laid to rest. Upon asking them to remove the tombstone, their response was one you may expect to hear today: along the lines of, surely if we move it now it will stink; being that he had been dead for four days.“The sister of the dead man, Martha, said, “Master, by this time there’s a stench. He’s been dead four days!” -John 11:39 (MSG)The spin of the message was learning to be patient and wait on God’s timing. One thing I am continuously learning is “faith is believing in advance what only makes sense in reverse.” & That God is an on-time God.Some of the key points from the message were:
- The hardest thing to do is wait on God’s timing.
- Sometimes your clock is set faster than God moves.
- There will be times in your life when God will wait until your situation stinks to step in.
- Love and suffering are not incompatible. Just because you suffer doesn’t mean God doesn’t love you.
- God’s delay can cause distress.
- Sometimes what you’re going through may not always be for you. Sometimes he’s using you to build someone else’s faith.
Questions to ask yourself:
- Do you have the faith to cope when you call on Jesus and he stands still?
- How many times have you made Jesus weep because of your lack of faith?
If there is anything you can take away from this sermon. Just hold on. Keep faith despite your present circumstances. With love,Latressa
