Feeling Robbed of Your Peace?
I don’t know about you all but for me: peace of mind is vital. I need to have peace in my decision making. Peace and harmony within my relationships. Peace in my work life. Just peace. Not being at peace with something is draining. If it’s worrying me and I can’t sleep at night, then, something has to give. I mean, who doesn’t like being in a tranquil state? Life is just easier when you’re not stressing. My favorite scripture when I don’t understand why I don’t have a sense of peace states:“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”-Philippians 4:6-7This scripture puts me in check every time. I’m a person that feels the need to be in control. I want full control of my emotions and my state of peace. & when things aren’t going my way, and I can’t seem to figure out why my frustration skyrockets. I really have to check myself like “girl, it’s not meant for you to understand. God’s peace is going to surpass anything I could ever understand. & behind it, there is a greater reason.”Now, “I ain’t no counselor or nothing,” (yes, I know this is improper English for all the grammar police) but here’s what helps me:
- Remember Your Source
Has God ever placed you in a situation where you haven’t made it out? Okay, he may not have done it the way you imagined. Or in the time frame, you expected. (Btw, he doesn’t work on your time love.) But he has delivered you from every situation that could have potentially resulted in your demise. All in all, you made it. Stop questioning his reasoning and start trusting.
- Refocus
Pinpoint what’s more important to you. Is it worth it to keep stressing over this situation? Is it going to matter in 2 days; heck, better yet, 2 hours? I know it seems big right now but in the grand scheme of things, the issue you are facing at the current moment is probably so minuscule. Remind yourself of all the great things going on in your life. I’m not saying to deny your feelings. You’re human, and it's natural to feel. But re-center yourself and move forward.
- Relax and Re-organize
Whether that means scheduling self-care time so you can get your mind back on track and in a space to allow God to help you win this battle. Just re-group. Get your planner organized. Just chill. Sometimes you need a break. Take that mid-day nap you never have time for in your schedule. Taking care of yourself is important; how can you devote your all to the things that are important to you if you’re running on empty? Make sure to include some quiet time (that means no phones, friends, or any other distractions: and this is something I should work on). But take some time to step outside of your demanding schedules as the bosses you are and get it together! When it’s all over you will realize how worth it the fight was. You may be stronger, more open-minded, a bit braver, who knows?Stay beautiful,-Latressa
